SWM helps Negeri Sembilan’s Pandu Puteri Win International Award
It was a gratifying moment for SWM Environment Negeri Sembilan when Yang Amat Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Prime Minister and President of Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia, visited SWM’s exhibition booth on April 5, 2012. The exhibition was part of SWM’s commitment as an event partner for Pandu Puteri’s “Kempen Bersama Kita Memelihara Alam Sekitar and Pandu Puteri Turun Padang”.
“Kempen Bersama Kita Memelihara Alam Sekitar’ was championed by Pandu Puteri Negeri Sembilan (PPNS) in line with Government’s aspiration and intent to raise awareness on recycling and to promote call-to-action by having the girl guides to work on various recycling events. The campaign involved around 6000 girl guides from all over Negeri Sembilan and managed to collect a total of 5918.9 kg of recyclables with assistance from SWM. It was through this campaign that PPNS were presented with the prestigious ‘Olave Award’ and SWM was recognised as a strategic partner in helping them gain this achievement.
The event also saw dignitaries such as D.Y.A.M. Raja Puan Muda Perak Darul Ridzuan, Raja Nor Mahani Binti Raja Haji Shahar Shah, Deputy President of Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia (PPPM), YBhg Datin Seri Hajah Zalillah bte Mohd Taib, Chief Commissioner of PPPM, YB Dato’ Haji Mat Ali Bin Hassan, State Secretary, State Executive Councilors, State Assemblymen, Yang Dipertua Majlis Perbandaran & Daerah, all Presidents of PPPM and all Chief Commissioners of PPPM come together to celebrate in spirit of comradeship.
SWM’s involvement with PPNS is one of the many efforts by SWM to sustain and widen our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to promote recycling, reduce waste, encourage conscious behavior and change mindsets of the public. This also serves as an extension to our on-going recycling programme in schools. SWM currently works with more than 150 schools across Negeri Sembilan.
